Important information for solid oak furniture
Solid oak – a natural product
Oak is like all other types of wood a natural material.
Like all other types of wood, oak changes its character and colour due to the discoloration which takes place when the wood is used and the affect of light.
This means that your furniture is not made from synthetic materials, chipboard or other artificial materials, but from nature's own product, solid wood. Knots, growth rings, structure and difference in colour underlines the fact that you have bought a natural product, and these are therefore not a reason for a complaint.
Solid oak - handling
Do never place close to or in direct contact with any source of heat. This may cause the wood to dry up completely.
Do never place on a wet surface.
To be used indoor, the furniture is not made for outdoor use.
Do regularly control that screws and fittings are solidly mounted.
Do always protect against heat, water and strong detergents.
Solid oak – works with the seasons
Oak grows very slowly. This means that the raw material used for your furniture may be more than 100 years old. It also means that your furniture is very heavy, which stresses the fact that you have bought a natural and solid product. All oak works with the change of the seasons. In summer when the humidity is high, the wood may expand, and in winter when the humidity is low, it will shrink
again. This stresses the fact that you have bought a solid and natural product and this is therefore not a reason for a complaint.
Oil treated oak
Oil treated oak – daily cleaning

WATER IS ONLY TO BE USED IN VERY SMALL QUANTITIES – DO IMMEDIATELY WIPE UP ANY SPILLED LIQUID WITH A CLOTH FIRMLY WRUNG IN CLEAN WATER.
Oiltreated oak – maintenance
Dirty surfaces may be cleaned with a cloth firmly wrung in oil. Dry off with a clean and dry cloth. The wood fibres may rise as time passes. Use fine sandpaper no. 320 and sand lightly LENGTHWISE the veins. Do NEVER use steel wool.
Oil treated oak - IMPORTANT
Oil treated oak may have remains of oil on the surface. Please check this throughout before you start using the furniture. If necessary, wash the surface with a little water or neutral soap. Please pay attention to this before you place food, books, textiles or other things on the furniture since any complaints due to this will not be accepted.
It is recommended that the furniture is oiled oil 1-2 times a year. After the treatment, air out the room throughout to remove the smell of the oil. At a low humidity, it may be necessary to oil the furniture several times a year.
